20 days passed since the February 6th earthquake. In these 20 days, hundreds of thousands of our people were left under the wreckage. In these 20 days, we witnessed hundreds of thousands of our people being sacrificed for the established policies of plunder and profit of the capitalist system. In these 20 days, we lived through and are still living through countless, thousands practices of enmity towards the people, including ISIS remnant gangs shooting at aid trucks, plundering AFAD that captures everything from drinking water to tents, torture towards volunteers in the streets, search and rescue operations to attain from wreckage bank safes. Kızılay (Turkish Red Crescent) selling people’s tents for money was only the latest scandal that emerged from this plunder order.
As all these are happening, millions of people, volunteers, revolutionaries, socialists, patriots, anarchist, women’s organizations, labor and professional organizations, ecology organizations, from those who tape parcels to those who engage in search and rescue operations, those who unload trucks, those who put up posters, have been engaged in mass mobilization to live and keep others alive.
Those who are responsible of the disaster in the earthquake region, primarily in Hatay/Antakya, today attacked the action of Istanbul Labor, Peace and Democracy Forces Earthquake Crisis Coordination, formed by those who have been weaving the solidarity from day one. Hundreds of people shouting “Your Profit Regime Killed, Not the Earthquake” were detained.
Our friends must be released immediately!
Those who turn the earthquake into a massacre will respond to the people, and those who stand with the people.
